Geriatric Day Centre
The Geriatric Day Centre serves the frail elderly by providing programs and services for non-residents. Working with other community services, we strive to enable the elderly still living at home to continue to do so for as long as possible.

Our goals are to:
  • Maintain or improve the participants' level of functioning;
  • Enhance their quality of life;
  • Decrease isolation;
  • Provide respite for their caregivers.
The Day Centre uses an interdisciplinary approach, calling on the expertise of several staff, including:
  • Nurse/coordinator
  • Recreation technician
  • Special care counsellor
  • Nursing assistant
  • Nurse's / dietary aide
  • Physiotherapy technician
  • Occupational therapist
In order to be admitted to the Geriatric Day Centre, participants must be:
  • At least 60 years of age, or have a geriatric profile;
  • Living at home or in a community setting;
  • In need of a structured program for cognitive, physical or social
    reasons;
  • Willing to attend the Day Centre on a voluntary basis.
Referrals are usually made through CLSC case managers or other health care professionals.
